The soap opera continues as evidenced by the fans who have elevated Harry to Sainthood and those who are relieved that he's gone then there are those who don't know what to think. I hope Levy and Co have thought this situation through clearly. So the reality is Mourinho, Hoddle, Fergie, Hiddink, Kilinnsman ain't coming. Unless someone magically pops out of the bag like Slaven Bilic say!!!!!!! These are our choices.
1. AVB - Never played professional foootbal due to eye problem, apprenticed himself to Bobby Robson and the Special One. He was the youngest manager to win the Portugese league and Europa league. Had an inglorious time at Chelsea where he was thwarted by dressing room politics and revolt and as reported by players a significant inability to communicate clearly with them, what he wanted of them in relation to his "Vision". Maybe he has the capability to see and analyse the game and see how it can be "Improved" but has he got the patience, human communication skills, man management and core strength to learn from what happened at Chelsea and develop a real ease in relationship to his players? He is unproven in the Big Leagues but Maybe?
2. Moyes is passionate, thrifty, gifted in making the most out of tight situations, a warrior like scot who has kept Everton afloat since he took over. Appears defensive minded but is that because of the team he has at his disposal, what if he were given the mandate to create an attacking team with flair and ability to defend and play ugly when needed? Can he make the jump, can he convert and alter his vision to aid Spurs and stay for the long haul. Or is he better as a warrior fighting the odds? Fergie fancies him as a manager. Maybe?
3. Martinez is a fiesty young manager that has kept Wigan in the premier league and elevated Swansea from the lower tiers of football. He is a good communicator and appears to get the best from his players, he calls it, as it is. He has been linked with Liverpool but does he have the credentials, the vision and the capability of delivering what Tottenham will ask of him. ??? I think not, now.
Truth is we need a manager who has vision, top man management skills and can communicate with players to get the best out of them, a guy who can create a plan for the long haul, build a credible team, attacking attractive and defensively sound. Isn't that what all teams want. I am not sure about A.V.B. and if i had a choice for a list of maybes that weren't the above- i would go for Slaven Bilic, Gus Hiddinck, Dick Advocaat.
The players will stay if they respect and believe in the manager. Well Audere est facere and I hope to God that Levy and co. bring home the bacon because as a club we deserve it. Personally i feel an AVB, Juande Ramos deja vous..................! But I am open to all possibilities.
