The most expensive English footballer could well be on the move from Anfield, sooner rather than later. Depending upon which paper read this morning the possible transfer and destination differs somewhat. I’ll avoid naming papers, because this was the biggest story for many with their own views over Andy Carroll’s immediate future.
The majority of stories involve the striker being lined up for loan deals. That has many Premier League clubs on high alert, including Fulham and the newly promoted West Ham. The option abroad is the shock though well-known interest from AC Milan. Again their interest is in taking Carroll on a season’s loan, however, I see that with a potential permanent move if all works out. That could prove to be a dream move if Carroll would be interested, it would be a massive upheaval though. It is likely to count the Italian giants out of this one considering the number of other options now available.
To some however, there may be a bigger shock with Newcastle looking to take their record sale back to the North East. Knowing exactly what they’re getting they are more than willing to back their interest up with a hard cash offer. It would still represent a £25million profit regarding Carroll’s exit and return to Tyneside. Newcastle are reportedly ready to offer Liverpool £10million for their former trainee. It now depends if Liverpool would rather take the money and run or loan Andy Carroll out in order to improve his form which could mean a more sizable transfer fee in a year.
There could be one option which Liverpool would find nearly impossible to turn down in order to see the large forward back in black and white. Alan Pardew, although in one article this morning has reportedly moved to reassure his forward Demba Ba’s future is safe and Newcastle will be prepared to alter their play to accommodate Ba’s own style. That doesn’t quite ring true to me; Newcastle couldn’t possibly keep three strikers happy and playing regular games. If Ba does still want to be a central figure and not play in Cisse’s shadow next season Newcastle could offer Liverpool Ba in exchange for Carroll. It is definitely another possibility, Liverpool have apparently shown some interest in Demba Ba whose finishing ability makes him one of the best imports into the Premier League in recent seasons. However, he doesn’t seem to thrive with another striker as the focal point alongside him. So you decide…
