Chelsea are set to have a clear out this summer as Jose Mourinho attempts to overhaul a squad that could only manage a third place finish in last season's Premier League table. The Daily Star reports that five first team players could soon be sold, with much maligned striker Fernando Torres set to lead the way.

The Stamford Bridge club have already parted with Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Samuel Eto'o, who were all released at the end of the last campaign, while David Luiz has been sold to Paris Saint-Germain. Now it seems that Torres could soon follow.

Amidst reports that Diego Costa will be arriving from Atletico Madrid following the conclusion of the World Cup, Torres has been linked with a move back to his boyhood club as part of the deal, while Inter Milan has also been touted as a possible destination. The expected signing of Costa would also seal the Chelsea fate of Demba Ba.

Romelu Lukaku is also likely to be sold, with the young Belgian frustrated at a lack of opportunities having been forced to spend the last two seasons out on loan despite a dearth of striking options at the club. Lukaku has already admitted that he is using the World Cup to showcase his talents in the hope of securing a move. Tottenham, Everton and Atletico Madrid are all rumoured to be interested, while Juventus have now also allegedly joined the chase.

German midfielder Marko Marin, who has played only sparingly for Chelsea since joining in 2012 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla, is reportedly the target of a £7m bid from former club Werder Bremen.

Full-back Ryan Bertrand may also be sold, with Steve Bruce prepared to pay £5m to take the Champions League winner to Hull.
