Ferguson's reveries

Joel Amorim19 - Jul - 2012

Sometimes I wonder what kind of things are currently going on in Ferguson's mind. He never fails to surprise me with his nonsense statements. From time to time, he acts as if he is living a sort of day dream, hallucinating about things that never were and flooding us with babble excuses. Yesterday, he made a fool of himself when he was talking about Berbatov's situation at the club and he made the following comment: “Last season he didn't quite get the amount of football he wants. At his age, it was difficult for him to accept his position in the forward line.” At his age? You are joking, right? He is what 45 years old? Well, Fergie, Berbatov is 31 and he is more capable than any other. No one needs to herald his qualities, that is a fact, but you don't need to make up excuses to explain your poor judgements during last season.

On yesterday's match, it was funny to see Berbatov playing as a sort of advanced playmaker, lurking behind Macheda and Hernandez. Is he a creative midfielder now? Well, the fact is that even playing in an uncommon position for him, Berbatov proved to be a fantastic player; moreover, he was probably the man in United's team yesterday.

It will be hard for me to see Berbatov leave, but honestly I don't to see him spending another season sitting in the bench or even in the stands. The lack of respect for Berbatov reached its peak last season, but Ferguson seems to continue his quest. For God sake, SAF, if you don't want the boy, just let him go. It is time to stop with the rubbish you said yesterday: "I am easy about it if he stays. I would be happy with that. But if someone comes in and Dimitar wants to leave, we will assess it." Give us a break, will you?

Have some decency in your attitudes, Ferguson, Berbatov deserves respect for the player he is and for what he has done for Manchester United. Dimitar reached the end of the line with United, so it is time for him to go. Thanks for everything, Berbatov. You deserve the best!
