Manchester United has several excellent young promises in its ranks and Ryan Tunnicliffe is one of them. The centre midfielder fosters the dream of becoming part of United's first team regularly and the departure of players such as Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison may open a new door for Tunnicliffe. The 19-year old player claimed that he is sad with the departure of Pogba and Morrison but he feels that he can benefit from this situation. He made the following statements to MUTV: “(...)They were good players playing in my position so one of us might have made it and another one might have not.
"So with them gone, it does open it up for me in a way but, obviously, I was close to them. We were midfield partners and good friends. I was sad to see Paul go and I do think he was a great player and could have made it here as well. But another door opens and it goes both ways."
Tunnicliffe still feels that there are several good players in the team that can also achieve a place in Manchester United’s first team: "But we've still got Larnell [Cole] and Jesse [Lingard], who are doing very well as well, and people who are younger than me and have got me looking over my shoulder as well as looking forward.
"There is a gap but I think there are still plenty of good players in the squad that I've got to get past to even get a few games this year."
Ryan Tunnicliffe went on loan last season to Peterborough United and he was able to take part in 26 League games for this team. He put up some good performances and he was an asset for The Posh.
Ryan is still young but he already shows some quality. He has a good, solid international career and he already has several appearances for England’s Youth Squads. I believe Tunnicliffe will create an impact in United's midfield in the near future and I wish that Sir Alex Ferguson gives him some opportunities to show his worth during the upcoming season.
What do you think about Tunnicliffe? Is he a good prospect or not?
