With one game left to play in this Premier League season, we can begin to analyze the most surprising performances of the season.
Clint Dempsey
Without a doubt the best American player to have ever played the game, Clint Dempsey had himself the best season of his life.
With 23 goals in all competitions for Fulham, he has been the most important player for the Cottagers' success this season. He has been consistent with his scoring all season long, and he is the new face of Fulham FC.
Due to his productive campaign he has been linked with a transfer to a major European club. All of us at Fulham hope he stays. With his hard work and his ability to score goals, he has won the crowd over.
The question is not whether Dempsey will have a good season next year. The question is where will Dempsey have a successful season next year.
Papiss Cissé
Possibly the best January signing of all time, Papiss has quickly adapted to the English style of football.
We knew from his past in the German Bundesliga that he had the ability to put in the back of the net, but I'm sure that nobody expected him to put up the number. He is at the moment or score the world class goals his scoring.
He has an impressive mark of 13 goals in 13 matches. Wearing Alan Shearer's number 9 might have added a little positive pressure for him to perform at the legend's level. His last goal against Chelsea will be forever remembered as one of the greatest goals in the history of the not just the Premier League, but in the history of the game.
Demba Ba
Newcastle made a lot of really good signings this summer as well, but none were better than the signing of Demba Ba. Alan Pardew acquired him on a free transfer from relegated West Ham United.
At the start of the season he seemed to be unstoppable. Scoring goal after goal, he was proving to the the world you don't need to be a big money signing to succeed at the top level.
He has all the attributes required to be a high quality Premier League striker. He is big, strong, fast, and most importantly he knows how to position himself to be an easy target. It seems like the Africa Cup of Nations cooled him off a little, but he is still one of the best striker in the Premier League.
Yakubu
Blackburn was officially relegated today after their home defeat to Wigan by 1-0, but one man that will not have trouble finding a job at the top level is Yakubu.
He is currently tied for 5th in the Premier League goal scoring list with 16 tallies, counting the fact that he has played in team with very little to offer.16 goals is a big number.
I'm sure that a lot of Premier League teams will be willing to sign him over the summer. He has proven himself yet again that he is a quality striker.
Victor Moses
The 21 year old speedy nigerian has proven to be quite the nightmare for Premier League defenses this season.
He has tremendous pace, and very fancy foot work that allows him to dash pass defenders. Even though he has been criticized for not passing the ball at times, the young nigerian shows a lot of potential for the future.
Moses was a big part to the success that Wigan enjoyed towards the end of the season.
Junior Hoilett
Similar to Moses, Junior Hoilett is also very young, and a very talented player. He has scored a lot of memorable goals for Blackburn this season, but non better than the strike he let rip against Norwich.
He also won't have hard time finding a job in the top flight next season. He is a free agent, and teams like Arsenal are already looking forward to sign him.
Unfortunately he couldn't prevent Blackburn from being relegated, he is another player with a lot of promise and potential.
