Top 5 Free Summer Transfers

Juan Salgado18 May 2012

With the UEFA fair play coming into play next season, a lot of the teams will look to save money and find good, affordable deals in this summer market. Here we will go over the top five players that will be looking for a job this summer.

Didier Drogba

He is one of the most proficient strikers in the history of the Premier League. The Ivorian seems to be on his way out the door from Stamford Bridge as the blues are letting his contract run all the way to the last weeks to make a decision.

At 34, Drogba showed that there is still a lot of fuel left in the tank. He will be demanding a high salary, but just the fact that there is no transfer fee makes him a target for every big club.

Tottenham have been one of the teams in the Premier League to show interest in him, but they will face a lot of competition as Drogab is getting offers from various teams in Europe as well as teams in the Middle East.

Junior Hoillett

The 21 year old canadian had a very impressive season despite the fact the he couldn't prevent his Blackburn side from being relegated.

Arsenal and Tottenham are just two of the many teams in the Premier League that are looking to get his services for next season.

Elite teams all over Europe have recognized this new young talent. Teams like Bayern Munich are also after him.

Robert Green

The 32 year old goal keeper might have played in the second tier of English football this season, but he is a solid keeper with a lot of top flight experience under his belt.

If the Hammers find a way to win their playoff final against Blackpool, there might be a chance that West Ham will be able to extend his contract, but it's highly unlikely that he stays.

He is on the Euro 2012 squad, and would be a good addition to any side who is looking for a quality keeper with a lot of experience.

Hugo Rodallega

After scoring the game winner against Stoke City last season that saved Wigan from relegation, the Colombian striker struggled to find the back of the net this season with only two goals.

But that shouldn't prevent the interest of any big European club. The 26 year old Colombian was a record signing for the Lactics back in 2009 when they signed him for £4.5 million.

Roberto Martinez tried to convince the striker to stay another season with Wigan, but after failing to come to an agreement on a deal, Martinez gave up on the idea of getting him to sign a long term deal.

Royston Drenthe

The 25 year old Dutchman had his season-long loan deal ended before the season due to some off-field troubles this season, but in the games he managed to play he displayed a lot of quality football.

He has been linked move to the Merseyside rivals Liverpool, but he still has a lot of options to consider. Knowing that he may never get a chance at his club Real Madrid, it seems that the Premier League has suited him just fine.

Knowing that his new deal may not be as juicy as the one he had with the Spanish giants, the Dutch team Feyenoord is trying to lure him with the chance to finally be a regular on the first team, and the chance to play Champions League football next season.
