Earlier today, reports suggested that Liverpool had made an offer for Fulham's Clint Dempsey
and that the offer had been accepted and was being finalized.
During this transfer window and towards the end of last season, their had been lots of speculation between Liverpool and Fulham's top scorer last season. After Dempsey revealed his desire to play Champions League Football, a move has looked inevitable. Fulham have strongly discouraged bids since this statement and are positive that they will retain the services of the American. This was put into doubt earlier today when a statement on the Liverpool FC website stated that a bid had been accepted for the Fulham midfielder. A move now looked certain, but the speculation was then ruled out when Fulham released a statement saying that no offers had been received from any club.
With two completely different statements from the club, nobody really knew the truth. Amid the confusion, Liverpool manger Brendan Rogers finally released a statement saying that Liverpool had not made an offer for the Fulham player, but have made an enquiry.
Dempsey's future is still undecided, but will probably be reveled within this transfer window with ongoing interest from Liverpool, and the determination to keep their last seasons top scorer from Fulham. What colour shirt will Dempsey be wearing come the start of the season? Only time will tell.
