London set to clash in fight for champions league football

Liam McInerney22 Mar 2012
Bitter rivals Chelsea and Spurs head into the premier league encounter on Saturday knowing three points is the ONLY option. Stamford Bridge is the venue and Di Matteo’s men will surely be relishing the lily whites as the blues have recently found their feet, despite their defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night. Tottenham have failed to taste victory in four games in the division. However, despite acquiring recent negative results, the team have been showing small signs of optimism. For example, having a perfectly eligible goal disallowed against United and Bale’s blast from outside the box smashing the upright versus Stoke. My point is, there is a fine line in football and luck plays a tremendous part. Arsenal seem to be receiving a plentiful supply of luck lately especially against Everton and snatching the winner in the 95th minute against Newcastle. However, with Arsenal edging ahead of Tottenham this week, Spurs need no more inspiration for going to the Bridge and fighting for the win. Chelsea four weeks ago were apparently in “crisis”. As a Spurs fan, it hurts admitting they have most certainly regained their best form and are now in the semi final of the FA Cup, the quarter final of the Champions League and are hot on the heels of the North London clubs. I am sure the Chelsea camp will be confident of shattering Tottenham’s season on Saturday! With the captain Terry back and Torres back scoring, they surely see it as a perfect time to play Spurs. A defeat could really have a negative effect on my beloved Tottenham. These past few weeks have been unbelievably frustrating for us fans and another defeat would really spell upset within the stands and increase the growing pressure on the players and the gaffer. However, when those 11 lily whites step out onto the enemies pitch on Saturday, I know the excitement will pounce and there will be an outburst of pride. Our line up will undoubtedly be one of the most talented Tottenham teams in years! The club is desperate to abandon these poor results! Who better to start our season firing again with a conquering of Stamford Bridge with success against Chelsea football club? Lets rally behind the troops and hope they finish the season superbly and leave the other London teams pondering in agony for not finishing ahead of us! Chelsea and Tottenham will be a fiery encounter and is one not to be missed. Who will come out on top? Will our luck change? COYS
