It looks as if Park Ji-Sung is on his way to Queens Park Rangers for around £2M. I just wanted to express my affection for the lad and wish him well, as he deserves first team football at this stage of his career. Many have claimed that he is past it now, but most of those comments I imagine are based on his performance against Citeh. Now I don't think anybody can say he played well but to throw him into that game having not played for 3 months surely wasn't fair. He has been a great professional and had an uncanny knack of scoring against Arsenal. Also that late 2 goal salvo against Wolves in the 19th league title campaign will live long in my memory.
We all know that at 31 he is probably on the wane ever so slightly, especially for somebody who's "industry" is a vital part of their game. A few years ago I was watching a United game and my Dad who doesn't really have much interest in the beautiful game looked up from his paper and said "That Park fella seems to run an awful lot" so from that point on there was at least one person outside of South Korea that Park was their number one player. It's safe to say that he was a little disappointed when I told him he was off.
Either way it's probably a good deal for all parties, I still firmly believe that selling John O'Shea last summer was a bad choice but it's nice to see that players who have served us loyally down the years get a chance to play week in, week out before they shuffle off to the golf course for the next 40 years. It also paves the way for either more signings or a space for one of the younger players to fill and gain some vital experience. All in all QPR have gotten a gem of a player in terms of professionalism and in scoring vital goals. Also one which will be especially missed during the times that
Ashley Young will be sprawled all over the ground due to a fly landing on his baby toe. Of all the clubs he could have gone to it seems that QPR had his name on it.
