This summer once again the Premier League's biggest and most powerful players will be battling it out for the signatures of the finest talents that the footballing world has to offer. Europe's elite will no doubt attempt to court the likes Edin Hazard, Hulk, Neymar, Cavani and Falcao whist the rest of the Premiership stands by watching over helplessly and hoping for damage limitations. As a football fan I would love to see such players grace the Premiership, however as a Tottenham fan I will be hoping that they resist the financial temptations that the "big guns" have to offer and stay put. I like most level headed fans know that the likes of these players are out of our reach at least for the time being. Having said this there is plenty of "purgable assets" around the Premiership and beyond which are both affordable and realistic summer targets for Spurs. With the persistent threat of the departure of our best players such as Bale and Modric, Harry should be busy lining up several key additions to the squad if not replacements.
Next year will be tough for Harry's men, as no doubt all the top clubs
will be looking to build this summer and I can see Chelsea and Liverpool
making a Premier League comeback. I sincerely believe Harry needs to bring at least five quality players to Spurs this summer to at least achieve fourth place next season (including a
centre back, a winger, an attacking midfielder and a striker plus Adebayor).
The following are a list of obtainable players all of whom I believe are not out of Spurs' price range, making them realistic targets. Needless to say there is an abundance of "gettable" talent. I'm not saying Harry should go in for all of the following players, its extensiveness is purely to show that there are "plenty of fish in the sea" and so what if Hazard is going to Chelsea.
So 'Arry here's your shopping list I've made it easy for you!
Fulham: Dembele, Dempsey and Bryan Ruiz all have enough skill to cut the mustard at the top level. It shouldn't be too difficult to prise one or two of them away from south London given Spurs' financial clout compared to that of Fulham's. Most likely target: Dempsey (around £12 million)
Newcastle: Tiote, Cabaye, Ben Arfa, P. Cisse, Demba Ba. All had superb seasons with Newcastle, most likely target: Demba Ba (around £8 Million)
Chelsea: It's a gamble but I'd happily take Lukaku to sit on our bench. Will only be available if Chelsea cut their losses and sell him cheap. Kalou is now on a free, great replacement for Dos Santos.
Ajax: Vertonghen, Spurs fan will feel let down if this one falls through. Could deputise at the back with Kaboul next season. Perfect successor to King. Available for just under £10 million.
Liverpool: Luis Suarez, expensive but a great finisher, natural predator and proven in the Prem, available for around the £25 mill mark. May want to escape Anfield and seek a fresh start.
Marseille: Loic Remy, been linked with Spurs for longer than we can put up with. Put us out of our misery and sign the french hit-man. (Available for around £20 million).
Borussia Dortmund: Lawandowski, the Polish forward impressed this season in the Bundesliga, however price will rocket if he performs at the Euros. (Price around £20 million).
Rennes: Yann M'Vila available for around £15 million, would love to steal the french defensive midfielder away from Wenger's grasp.
Montpellier: Olivier Giroud. Top scorer for the french champions this season. One of this summer's hot properties. (Available for around £18 million). Younes Belhanda, attacking midfielder who also has attracted a lot of attention this season due to his performances. (Available for around £15 million)
Benfica: Nicolas Gaitan, Argentine left winger could be an ideal like for like swap for Gareth Bale. (But could cost around £20 million)
Who out of these guys would you most like to see line up for Spurs next season? C'mon Harry We're not asking for much. :)
