Michael Laudrup's new era at the Liberty Stadium seems to have already ushered in major change. 2 signings were made in relatively quick succession, with in the shape of Jose Manuel Flores - known as Chico - and a fantastic midfielder on loan in Jonathan de Guzman - touted for greatness since 18 years old at Feyenoord. Both have La Liga experience and the style of play that would suit Swansea down to the ground.
But who are Michu and Miku?
An attacking midfielder who knows what he's doing in front of goal, Michu is a definite threat with the ball at his feet. At 6 ft 1, he has an aerial presence and he seems to have an eye for a pass. With his club Rayo Vallecano in administration, they need to sell, and with him likely to leave for a measly £2m it would be a fantastic buy for the Swans.
Michu has been rumoured to be on the hitlist of Manchester United and Liverpool, with Martin Ferguson sent to look at him this season. At such a small price, it's not much of a gamble for a big club and Swansea will be wanting to wrap up this signing quickly.
Miku - real name Nicolas Fedor Flores - is a Venezuelan striker who was top goal scorer for Getafe last season. However the 12 goal striker seems to be very like a striker already on Swansea books - £3.5 million record signing Danny Graham. Although he actually makes a decent contribution tracking back and winning the ball high up the pitch, I'm unsure whether this is going to be a fruitful signing.
At 26 going on 27, this isn't a signing for the future and I'm not sure why we would sign such a striker when what we need is a pacy goalscorer who can really take chances. Fabio Borini - who is Liverpool bound - is a testament to this, as his short Swansea career was very fruitful. He fit into the first 11 in the blink of an eye and was a real contributor to Swansea's promotion.
The signings made and in the process of being tied up show one thing - the Swans have got serious ambition to better their finish of 11th last season - and if we do finish in the top half there will be calls for a Spanish style fiesta. And why not?
