Swansea defender, Ashley Williams, has assured Swans' fans of his contentment at the Liberty Stadium following reports that Williams decided against entering new contract talks with the club.
Williams, who has two years left on his current contract, has publicly stated that he is completely happy in South Wales and, therefore, is in no rush to enter contract extension negotiations. The original reaction to his reluctance to sign a new contract was one of fear from Swansea fans, but now they will be reassured to hear of the centre back's public statement regarding his future at the Swans.
The Welsh international, was one of Swansea's star performers last year, in a season where the Swans surprised everyone with some classy football that led to their mid table finish, having been tipped to go down at the start of the season. Williams' assured performances at the back led Newcastle to become interested in him over the summer, yet new Swansea manager, Michael Laudrup, was intent on keeping him where he was.
Laudrup's insistence has paid off, with Williams' partnership with new signing Chico Flores playing a big factor in Swansea's successful start to the season where they have taken 7 points from 9.
