The game against "The best team in the world" - Barcelona was i truly success for the blues. I saw the game from the European capital city Brussels at a restaurant, where everyone as the rest of Barcelonafans are, truly prosperity supporters. I was glad to se how our Blue team fought as their lives were at stake. The statistics didn't tell us the true story. Barcelona won everything in the game - except the game. And that's what counts. Chelsea had the margins on their side, but that's what all team needs to win a great battle like this.
Match analysis:
You could clearly see how Chelsea's defense game worked. They were never interested in winning balls high up on the pitch. Just that the ball shouldn't pass the half pitch.
Di Matteo knew that Barcelona plays their attack from the middle, not from the sides because they want to avoid attacking with high balls against a team like Chelsea when Chelsea's players are one size bigger and that would result nothing. Di Matteo made his Chelsea play as a box in the middle of the defense and at some times you could see up to eight of 10 players in the centre of the field, all defensing.
Juan Mata who is known as the offensive player wasn't that offensive player at this game. His work was to help the defensemen, and you could see him some times supporting Ivanovic against
Iniesta. You could also see him when Barcelonas most dangerous player
Messi was sneaking around the top, when the Chelsea defenders lost him you could se Juan Mata go from the offensive role at covering up there, have we ever saw him like that? -No, and that's what we want to see more in the future. He reminded me of Napolis Cavani against Chelsea in the second game where you could se Cavani at the top and ten seconds later at the defense, a truly fighting spirit!
Mikel as I usually don't like as a player because I think he sometimes becomes invisible. You could se him disturb players like Messi and Xavi all the time, and they found it hard to find the good game because of that. He fought hard and he covered and he cut the lines where Barcelona like to play the ball. He played the roll as Real Madrids
Pepe is doing in the el Classicos, just that Mikel did this much better!
And I loved how
Ramires is waiting for the right balls and then explode like a cannonball when he saw that he got the opportunity as Lamp's got the ball. Lamp's did a great pass, Ramires did an excellent run and at the end he found Drogba who could score the only goal in the game!
The few attacks Chelsea were mostly coming from corners or free kicks and that was not were the offensive players had their roll, it was there the defense players showed their self in a offensive roll and that worried Barcelona. Cahill did a great job, as the great defenseman he is, as a offensive man and also as a great fighter for Chelsea! Also the other defenseman did a great work, but I'd like to raise him a little bit more.
It's been much talking about Drogba as the actor and the hero. Barcelona are the actors, Chelsea became the winners. All I could see Drogba was as a HERO! Such a fighter, such a beast, such a player! It's hard to find someone like him, I'd loved if the rumors is true - that i might stay at Stamford Bridge for the next year.
